Shrikrishna Science Centre, Patna (SSCP), orchestrated a transformative week-long Teacher’s Training Programme, catering to third-semester teacher trainees from the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College Autonomous. Taking place from August 7th to August 12th, the program artfully combined practicality with engagement, focusing on leveraging cost-effective teaching aids to invigorate science education.
The inaugural day commenced with Shri Amitabh, PC & Curator at SSCP, conducting an enlightening session on “Innovative Teaching Methods.” His emphasis on kindling students’ scientific curiosity using budget-friendly teaching tools left an indelible mark. The subsequent session, steered by Md. Aftab Hussain, Education Assistant, SSCP, delved into the creation of low-cost teaching aids in Physics, equipping trainees with hands-on skills and innovative pedagogical insights.
Day 2 shone a light on the realm of “Hydroponics,” guided by distinguished expert Shri Javed Alam. Trainees delved into the intricacies of setting up and managing hydroponic systems, gaining a holistic understanding of efficient and sustainable cultivation practices. The sessions on the following days unfolded captivating journeys through Biology, Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. These sessions, led by Shri Gaurav Pandit, Dr. Rakesh Mazumdar, Shri Vishwanath Gupta, and Md. Aftab Hussain respectively, imparted invaluable methods and tools, fuelling innovative teaching strategies and inspiring practical exploration.
The workshop’s cumulative effect was profound; it enriched participants with an array of multidisciplinary insights nurtured by hands-on experiences. By fostering a deep connection between theory and practice, the program spurred teacher trainees to create their own teaching aids, instilling a lasting enthusiasm for science education with the promise to captivate and enchant their students.
