A guest lecture on the theme “Value Integration in Students” was organised by the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College Autonomous, for its first semester students of session 2023-25, on 7th November 2023. The resource person for the session was Dr. Anju, Academic Consultant, Shri Shri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir Trust, Bengaluru. The lecture was organised in accordance with National Council for Teacher Education celebration of Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav.
The lecture aimed to address the importance of instilling strong values in teacher trainees and the role of education in fostering character development. Dr Anju, brought valuable insights and expertise to enlighten the trainees on the significance of integrating ethical values into their personal and academic lives. She highlighted the crucial role that educational institutions play in nurturing values. The focus was on creating an environment that encourages open discussions, critical thinking, and the development of a strong moral compass. Dr Anju also shared real-world examples illustrating how individuals with strong values have made a positive impact in their personal and professional lives. She also led the trainees through an invigorating meditation session. The lecture incorporated an interactive session where the trainees could ask questions and participate in discussions with the distinguished speaker. Dr Anju emphasized the fact that values are imbibed by the students and cannot be forced on them, and for this to occur the teachers need to be the role models for the students. The lecture served as a catalyst for self-reflection, encouraging them to recognize the pivotal role values play in shaping their character.
