The Department of Education, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), organised an awareness programme on 19 September 2026 under the Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar (SSSS) 5.0 Campaign. The programme focused on protecting ocean ecosystems and encouraging collective action against marine litter, especially plastic waste. It was organised in accordance with the communication of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE, F. No. 1-21/2024-IS.20).

A PowerPoint presentation titled “Choking Ocean” introduced the students to the growing problem of plastic pollution and its effects on marine life. The presentation drew attention to the accumulation of plastic waste in the oceans and the need to reduce its use and improve waste management.
Students also watched the documentary “Oceans of Plastics”, which showed how discarded plastic reaches marine environments and affects aquatic ecosystems. Together, the presentation and documentary encouraged trainee teachers to reflect on their everyday consumption and disposal practices.

At the end of the programme, students and staff took a pledge to preserve natural resources and contribute towards a sustainable India. The activity reinforced the importance of individual responsibility and collective efforts in reducing marine pollution.
