The students of the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College Autonomous had the privilege to attend a two-day science workshop from June 30th to July 1st, 2024 organised by Shri Krishna Science Centre, Patna, to mark International Asteroid Day 2024. This workshop aimed to enhance the teaching skills of the trainees through practical experiences in astronomy. The participants engaged in an interactive session with the renowned photographer Mr. Virendra Adhikari.
The workshop featured astrophotography sessions where trainees learned to capture celestial images using advanced equipment, fostering their ability to integrate visual aids into teaching materials. Utilizing Stellarium Software, participants explored night sky observation techniques, enhancing their ability to explain astronomical phenomena with accuracy and clarity. A highlight was the model making workshop focused on asteroids, providing hands-on experience in crafting and understanding the composition of these celestial bodies. The trainees made asteroids under the guidance of the supervisors Mr. Vishwanath Gupta and Mr. Muhammad Aftab Hussain. During the workshop, a quiz on astronomy tested B.Ed trainees’ knowledge, followed by a prize distribution ceremony to recognize top performers.
