The Science and Mathematics Club (session 2022-24) of the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College Autonomous, organised an Interactive Session on Women’s Health on May 13, 2023. Dr. Geetam Bharti, Gynaecologist, Matritva Clinic, Gola Road and Dr. Anupama Priyadarshini, owner of Bodhi Hospital, Kankarbagh were invited as guest speakers.
Dr. Rashmi Sinha, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, gave the welcome address and reiterated the importance of the health and well-being of women. Dr. Bharti, then took over the dais and delivered an enlightening lecture on the pertinent issues of women’s health. She categorised them as being associated with the adolescent, reproductive and menopausal age groups. Dr. Bharti dispelled certain myths pertaining to menstruation and conception. She drew attention to the need to talk openly and freely about female problems. But most of all she advised the students to take good care of their general health, maintenance of daily hygiene, a well-balanced diet, regulated sleep cycle and regular exercise. These are the key to ensuring a qualitative life, free from illnesses, she opined.
In the concluding session, the doctors answered a myriad of questions posed to them by the curious class of young teacher- trainees. The highly enriching program came to an end with Anam proposing the vote of thanks.
