The students of the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College went to Tarumitra Ashram, Digha, Patna on 28th and 29th February 2020 for a field visit. The day started with an orientation program organized by Miss Devo Priya Dutta, Co-ordinator, Tarumitra. She introduced the students to the vision and mission of the organization. She also introduced them with various varieties of trees, organic farms and contribution of students from different countries to the Taru Mitra.
After the orientation programme, the students were given a tour of the entire campus. They were shown the fields and the process of filtering water. The students learnt interesting facts about various trees. The tour was followed by a thoughtful discussion on waste management by Mr Shashi Darshan, Volunteer, Tarumitra.
On the last day of the trip, the students were asked to bring a handful of rice to feed birds. Many activities and programmes were also prepared for them, such as save electricity, health nutrition and diet. Father Tony Pandanath S. J. (Director, Tarumitra) conducted an interesting activity with the students of making organic and herbal items. Mr Harshit guided the students in seed collection, identification and seed bomb-making. At the end of the day, the students celebrated the Vasantotsav programme with trees using self-made organic colours.
