The Science and Mathematics Club of the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College Autonomous, organised a Documentary-making Competition on May 22, 2023, to commemorate International Day for Biological Diversity, on the Zoom platform, under the guidance of Dr Rashmi Sinha, Dr Shubhra and Ms Ritika Shree, Assistant Professors, Department of Education.
Students of the second semester (session 2022-24) were divided into 19 groups, each group consisting of five members. To make a short documentary on a wild animal of their choice, students visited Sanjay Gandhi Zoological Park, Patna and did an in-depth study. All these captivating documentaries on “Our Untamed Friends” were screened to educate the attendees about the current state of these untamed friends and the urgent need for their protection.
The winner of the competition was Group 13 comprising Nidhi, Khushboo Kumari, Shruti Shree, Simran Gupta and Anamika Singh. The second position was bagged by Group 11- Pratima Rani, Ragini Ranjan, Muskan Gupta, Neha Kumari, Uditi Sinha and Group 14- Kanchan Kumari, Nishu Kumari, Ritika Sunny, Anam Fatma and Riya Sunny got the third position.
The documentaries highlighted the crucial role of individuals and educational institutions in biodiversity conservation and emphasised the importance of sustainable development for a healthy and resilient future
