Established in 2006, the Department of Education is an NCTE-accredited body running a B.Ed. Course.
The Department of Education, Patna Women's College Autonomous, celebrated the spirit of Christmas with great joy and enthusiasm on 19th December 2024. The first and third-semester B.Ed. students (sessions 2024–26 and 2023–25) came together to organize a delightful programme, embracing the essence of love, peace, and togetherness.
The event began with a prayer dance led by the first semester students, invoking blessings and spreading the message of harmony. The audience was captivated by the students’ heartfelt performance of Christmas carol ‘Masiah’, which added to the festive ambiance. A play titled ‘Birth of Hope’ was performed, beautifully depicting the birth of Jesus Christ and emphasizing the values of humility and compassion in the present turbulent world. The enchanting dance presentation by the first semester students further filled the audience with joy.
Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal, Patna Women's College addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of kindness and generosity during the Christmas season. She encouraged everyone to carry forward the spirit of love, peace, hope and harmony in their daily lives, and to be the best versions of themselves. Students were also given small presents to celebrate the festive season.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Archana Suman, first semester student. The event left everyone with cherished memories and a renewed sense of togetherness.

The first-semester students (session 2024-26) of the Department of Education, Patna Women's College Autonomousomous, visited Ashadeep Rehabilitation Centre, Patna, on 16th and 17th December 2024. The visit offered a unique opportunity to interact with special children and gain insights into inclusive education practices. They were accompanied by Dr. Shubhra and Ms. Swati Shilpi, Assistant Professors.
Upon arrival, the trainees received a gracious welcome from the Principal, who then presented an insightful overview of the institution's heritage, key initiatives, and outstanding achievements. Later the trainees performed action songs to entertain the children and observed classes, therapy sessions, and recreational activities designed for differently-abled students. They learned about specialized teaching methods and resources, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by these students.
The visit was a transformative experience, promoting empathy and inclusivity. To spread Christmas cheer, the trainees gifted chocolates and small presents to the children and even learned to sign their names in sign language.

The Department of Education, Patna Women's College Autonomous celebrated Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav in accordance with National Council for Teacher Education (GA029/2 l).014-O/o)DS(CA-lI)-HQ), on 11th December 2024 by organizing an Inter-House Wall Magazine Competition on the theme "लोकभाषा, संस्कृति तथा हम" (Folk Languages, Culture, and Us). The event aimed to promote linguistic diversity, cultural heritage, and teamwork among the first semester B.Ed. students of session 2024-26.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from the four houses: Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow, each presenting unique interpretations of the theme.
Red House: Focused on Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Bengali languages. Their presentation included performances of traditional Maithili and Bengali songs, enhancing the cultural ambiance.
Blue House: Explored Santhali, Munda, and Angika languages. They enriched their display with Santhali and Munda folk songs and proverbs in Angika, capturing the essence of these regional languages.
Green House: Highlighted Bhojpuri, Santhali, Tamil, and Assamese languages. They showcased traditional art forms like Madhubani and Manjusha painting and performed folk songs in Bhojpuri and Tamil, demonstrating the rich artistic traditions of these cultures.
Yellow House: Presented a famous Santhali folklore, emphasizing traditional dress, music, and cuisine of the Santhal region. They also performed Bhojpuri Phagua songs, adding vibrancy to their presentation.
The wall magazines incorporated various creative elements such as:
Articles: Detailing the evolution and significance of folk languages like Maithili, Bhojpuri, Santhali, Angika, Assamese, Bengali, and Tamil in preserving cultural identity.
Authors and Poets: Celebrating the literary contributions of regional dialects.
Quotes and Proverbs: Showcasing the wisdom embedded in Lokbhashas.
Food and Clothing: Highlighting the culinary and sartorial diversity associated with these cultures.
The competition was judged by Dr. Rashmi Sinha and Dr. Madhumita, Assistant Professors in the Department of Education, who evaluated the entries based on creativity, thematic relevance, and presentation skills. The Red House was declared as the winner of the competition.

The Department of Education, Patna Women's College Autonomous, organized a six-day school exposure programme for the first-semester B.Ed. students of the session 2024-26 from 2nd to 7th December 2024. The program aimed to provide practical teaching experience and foster community engagement among the trainees. The Students were divided into five different schools of Patna, namely- Government Girls High School, Shastri Nagar, Government Boys High School, Shastri Nagar, Rajkiya Balika Ucch Vidyalaya, Chiraiyatad, Devipad Choudhary Shaheed Smarak Miller High School and Bankipore Rajkiya Balika Uchch Madhyamik Vidyalaya.
Themed "सृष्टि के साथ सामंजस्यः एक नवीन भविष्य की ओर" (Harmony with Creation: Towards a New Future), the programme involved various interactive and educational activities designed to promote environmental awareness and holistic learning:
Yoga Sessions: Trainees conducted yoga activities to emphasize the importance of physical and mental well-being.
Sand Painting Activity: A creative session was held to encourage artistic expression among school students.
Presentations: Trainees delivered an engaging presentation on the theme "बिन पानी सब सून" (Without Water, All is Lost), highlighting water conservation.
Elocution Competition: School students participated in an elocution contest on the theme "Nature", which inspired reflections on environmental conservation.
Nukkad Natak: On the concluding day, trainees performed a street play titled "जीवन का आधारः वायु" (The Essence of Life: Air). The play depicted the adverse effects of air pollution caused by human activities and suggested actionable solutions for improving air quality.
Exhibition: The trainees organized an exhibition showcasing creative items designed by the school students during the programme.

As part of their teacher training program, the Department of Education, Patna Women's College Autonomous organized a comprehensive internship for its third-semester trainees (session 2023-25). From August 28 to December 4, 2024, the trainees were placed in renowned schools across Patna, including Loyola High School, Carmel High School, DAV Public School (BSEB), B D Public School, Baldwin’s Sophia School, Government Girls High School, Bankipur, Government Girls High School, Shastri Nagar, Government Boys High School, Shastri Nagar, Devipad Choudhary Shaheed Smarak Miller High School, and Government Girls High School, Chiraiyatad.
During their internship, trainees were immersed in the teaching-learning process, observing and participating in classes, and engaging with students and faculty. They also had the opportunity to organize co-curricular activities, such as cartoon-making competitions, sports events, and cultural programs, and participate in administrative processes.
This hands-on experience helped trainees develop essential skills, including confidence, creativity, and problem-solving abilities, crucial for effective teaching.
