On the eve of the Feast of the Lady of Mount Carmel, that is on 15th July 2024, the third semester students (session 2023-35) of the Department of Education, Patna Women’s College Autonomous put on a solemn show. Special guests for the occasion were Dr. Mridul Mishra, Head of the Department of Social Work, Sister Anandi, Sister Anshika and Sister Roshni, of the Apostolic Carmel.
The Programme began with an introduction of Carmel Feast by Shambavi and Prerna, second year students. This was followed by a Prayer Service led by Sister Ashwani. Anjali Hela with her soulful Prayer Dance on the song ‘Hey Maa, Mariyam’, created an atmosphere of tranquillity. The significance of the day and the welcoming of the audience was carried out by Shagufta Afreen. The beautiful rendition of the hymn ‘Mother of Carmel’, by the second year students, further created the ambience of prayerfulness and peace. A small skit on the story of Mount Carmel gave the message of having faith and surrendering to God. The programme culminated by honouring Mary Mother of Carmel, through a group dance on the song ‘Mere Mann ki Surango’. The anchors for the event were Vidushi Bharti and Anjali. In the end the vote of thanks was proposed by Uzma Rahman.
Sister Saroj, Head, Department of Education, Patna Women’s College addressed the gathering and briefly reiterated the importance of the day for all Carmalites. Mary invites us to be people of hope and prayer, which helps us to connect with ourselves. She encouraged the students to follow the path laid out by Mother Mary and become a person of integrity, prayer and spirituality; people who stand with courage and values.
